At the heart of the city on 15 Colmore Row, Pasture Birmingham is where fire, meat, and music come together in bold celebration. It's more than just a steakhouse — it's a lively, open kitchen experience where craft meets community, and every service feels like a special occasion.
As the latest addition to the Pasture family, Birmingham carries forward the legacy of our Cardiff and Bristol restaurants — with in‐house butchery, grass‐fed beef from trusted local farms, and a deep commitment to quality, sustainability, and flavour. Our open‐fire cooking and vibrant soundtrack create a dining atmosphere that's as dynamic as it is welcoming.
We're building a team of people who are as passionate about hospitality as they are about great food and memorable experiences. Whether you're on the floor, behind the bar, or at the pass — if you've got the energy, drive, and personality to match our fire, we want to hear from you.
We're looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Junior Sous Chef to help lead and support our talented kitchen team at Pasture. If you thrive in a high‐energy, quality‐driven environment and are ready to take the next step in your culinary career, this is your opportunity to grow with one of the most exciting kitchens in the region.
At Pasture, we take pride in showcasing the best local and seasonal produce from the South West. From relaxed lunches to business dining and special occasions, every plate is prepared with care, craft, and a commitment to excellence. We're a kitchen built on teamwork, creativity, and pace, and we're looking for someone who can bring leadership, energy, and consistency to the pass.
What We're Looking For
We're after a Junior Sous Chef who's ready to lead by example and support in running a busy, professional kitchen. You'll already have strong experience in fresh food kitchens, ideally at Chef de Partie or Junior Sous level, and you're ready for more responsibility. You'll be confident managing service, supporting your brigade, and stepping in wherever needed to keep standards high. With a deep understanding of seasonal ingredients and a passion for bold, modern cooking, you'll contribute to menu development while helping to train and mentor junior chefs. You're highly organised, committed to food safety, and calm under pressure. Above all, you're someone who thrives in a tight‐knit, ambitious team where collaboration and quality matter.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the day‐to‐day running of the kitchen.
- Leading and managing services to ensure smooth, high‐quality food delivery.
- Running the pass with confidence, clarity, and attention to detail.
- Helping to create and refine seasonal dishes using fresh, local produce.
- Maintaining exceptional food safety, hygiene, and kitchen organisation standards.
- Assisting with stock control, ordering, and waste management.
- Supporting the development and training of junior chefs and new starters.
- Bringing positivity, consistency, and leadership to every shift.
You
You're a focused, reliable chef who brings both skill and calm leadership to the kitchen. You've already developed solid technical ability, strong communication skills, and a deep respect for local ingredients. Now, you're looking for a role where you can grow your leadership and help shape an ambitious, service‐driven kitchen. You're organised, clean, and thrive in a high‐pressure environment, but you also know how to support others, keep morale high, and keep the team moving as one. You love food, love service, and want to be part of a team that brings it all together, every day.
