Pastael is looking for a freelance Product & Accessories Designer to help us develop our next generation of travel accessories. Pastael is a fast-growing travel accessories brand creating colourful, functional and beautifully designed products that make packing and travelling feel more joyful. We launched with packing cubes, and are now expanding into new product categories, with a focus on thoughtful design, clever functionality and a strong visual identity.
We’re looking for a Product & Accessories Designer with experience designing accessories, soft goods, bags, pouches, organisers, travel products or similar to support our team. You should be able to take an initial idea and help turn it into a production-ready product, balancing aesthetics, functionality, materials, construction and commercial viability.
What You’ll Do- Support developing new travel accessories and product concepts for Pastael - from trend research and concept creation.
- Create sketches, technical drawings and product specifications.
- Advising on materials, trims, construction, sizing and functionality.
- Helping refine existing product ideas into manufacturable designs.
- Working closely with our founder and operations team on sampling and supplier feedback.
- Supporting with colour, finish and detail decisions to make sure each product feels distinctly Pastael.
- Thinking through how products will be used in real life: packing, organisation, travel, beauty, everyday essentials and gifting.
- Work closely with the founder to deliver commercially successful products, balancing creativity with feasibility, sustainability, cost, and durability.
- 3–5 years of experience in designing accessories, bags, travel goods, soft goods or lifestyle products.
- Understands both product aesthetics and technical construction.
- Has a strong eye for detail, colour, proportion and finish.
- Is commercially minded and can design products that are beautiful, functional and scalable.
- Can create clear tech packs/specs for manufacturers.
- Is proactive, organised and confident working independently on a freelance basis.
- Ideally has experience working with overseas manufacturers and sampling processes.
- Experience with travel accessories, packing solutions, beauty bags, organisers or luggage-adjacent products.
- Knowledge of recycled fabrics, water-resistant fabrics, zips, trims, hardware and soft goods construction.
- Experience with DTC brands, founder-led brands or fast-growing start-ups.
- Freelance / project-based role.
- Remote, with monthly London meetings.
- Flexible scope depending on experience and availability.
- Immediate start preferred.
