Overview

Our Kitchen Assistants/Team Members are responsible for preparing our food offering to the highest quality and standards. Their role is crucial in maintaining a smooth and efficient operation in the kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the kitchen is set up and ready for each service with the right amount of prepared Pasta Sauces and other ingredients to ensure quick service while minimising waste. Include preparing par levels in the pre-prepared cold delivery fridge.
  • Wear a full smart clean uniform to the brand standard at all times whilst on shift and use protective clothing as required.
  • Ensure the Pasta Evangelists Standard is adhered to, keeping our Pasta and other products to the highest possible standard for quality for our customers.
  • Keep the kitchen exceptionally clean and compliant with Health and Safety / Quality and Safety regulations.
  • Monitor availability and inform the Team Leaders and wider team in advance.
  • Document and keep records on food as appropriate to company policy, ensure effective date labelling and maintain stock rotation principles (FIFO).
  • Maintain par levels and record any food wastage accurately.
  • Utilise the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to maximise quality and speed of food readiness.
  • Ensure all equipment (fridges, pasta boiler, ovens, microwaves, etc.) has correct temperature records and follows safe food handling procedures.
  • Maintain equipment to SOP standards (kitchen management system, oven, fridges, freezers, etc.).
  • Prepare and cook food to the highest standards and follow the How to Card and SOPs for preparation.
  • Ensure all food is prepared quickly, in the correct order, and in line with the How to Card standards and SOPs.
  • Check deliveries into the store and report any issues to the Team Leader/Manager. Receive and store deliveries appropriately and maintain storage requirements.
  • Operate the wash-up area and ensure equipment is thoroughly cleaned.
  • Use correct signage while cleaning is taking place.
  • Dispose of rubbish correctly at all times, following company waste management processes and Local Authority recycling requirements.
  • Report any equipment defects promptly to the Team Leader or Area Manager.
  • Follow close-down procedures to keep the kitchen clean and prepared for the next shift.
  • Organise pest checks regularly and report any concerns to the Team Leader and higher management.

Qualifications

  • You have knowledge of safe food handling, storage, and preparation techniques to prevent foodborne illnesses (preferable).
  • You are familiar with basic culinary techniques such as chopping, slicing, dicing, and measuring ingredients.
  • You can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively.
  • You are meticulous and detail-oriented in food preparation, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen organisation.
  • You can work well as part of a team, communicate effectively with colleagues, and follow instructions from the Team Leader and/or Area Manager.
  • You are willing to adapt to changing situations, work schedules, and tasks in a dynamic kitchen environment.
