Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Estimator role based in Glasgow. The Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimates for passive fire protection, drylining and partitioning works, including coatings, encasements, fire stopping, and related services, using drawings, specifications, and site information. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing tender documents, performing quantity take-offs, liaising with suppliers for pricing, and developing competitive bids and proposals. The role also involves working closely with project managers and technical staff to clarify scope, assess risks and value engineering options, and ensure estimates align with industry standards and company margins. The Estimator will maintain up-to-date records of tenders, track project outcomes, and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and pricing databases.
Qualifications
- Strong estimating and cost analysis skills, including quantity take-offs, pricing, and tender preparation for construction or fire protection projects.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and building regulations related to passive fire protection and drylining
- Competence with relevant software tools such as estimating software, spreadsheets, and general office applications (e.g., Excel, Word).
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project teams, suppliers, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Solid organisational and time management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy under tender deadlines.
- Knowledge of passive fire protection systems and materials (e.g., intumescent coatings, fire stopping, fire doors) or willingness to develop this expertise.
- Experience in construction estimating, quantity surveying, or a related discipline; previous experience in fire protection is an advantage.
- Relevant vocational or academic qualification in construction, engineering, quantity surveying, or a similar field is beneficial.
- Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous professional development within the fire protection industry.
