Purpose of this role
To provide in person and remote IT technical assistance to Passiv, meeting the needs of our organisation with energy and passion. This role involves supporting both Microsoft Windows and Linux Mint laptops, managing the corporate network, and administering a suite of Cloud services and SaaS subscriptions.
Key Responsibilities
- Desktop Support: Provide first and second line support for hardware and software issues on Windows and Linux environments.
- User Management: Work with recruiting managers and HR to provide a seamless onboarding experience, including account creation, permissions management, and equipment provisioning.
- Network Administration: Monitor and maintain the corporate network, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and ensuring network security.
- Cloud & SaaS Support: Administer and support our various cloud and SaaS subscriptions, managing user access and resolving service‑related issues, with a strong focus on Google Workspace and AWS.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical problems across a range of applications (both internally hosted and cloud based), systems and devices.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, processes and support procedures in Confluence; ensure all tasks are recorded and prioritised in Jira.
- Asset Management: Track and manage IT assets, including hardware and software licences.
- Change Management: Ensure both corporate and production environments are managed and all service‑affecting changes are tested and approved by the responsible manager.
- Procurement: Work closely with the IT and DevOps Manager and preferred suppliers to manage hardware and software lifecycles.
- Other duties as required by the IT team and Development Director.
Qualifications
- Degree Level Qualification in Computer Networking or related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience working in and supporting a fast paced corporate environment.
Experience / Knowledge
- Extensive experience in desktop support and corporate IT systems.
- Linux installation and management of end‑user devices.
- Microsoft Active Directory Management.
- Microsoft Windows 11 installation and desktop support, experience supporting Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Google Workspace administration (Users, Groups, Email Routing, Drive, Chrome policies, Billing).
- Mobile Device Management.
- Atlassian Administration (Jira, Confluence).
- Provide IT support for companywide events including audio, streaming and recording.
Abilities / Skills
- An interest in technology and an active, hands‑on approach.
- Confidence in corporate IT needs.
- Great interpersonal skills; an ability to communicate with people throughout Passiv and BUUK.
- A highly‑motivated self‑starter, able to manage time effectively while paying close attention to detail.
- A fast learner and an active problem solver.
- Be able to cope well under pressure and resolve issues at short notice.
- Awareness to ensure company IT hardware is managed, maintained and secure.
Desirable
- AWS qualification: Cloud Practitioner / CloudOps Engineer or similar.
- Support based Microsoft technologies accreditation.
- Azure / Office365 administration.
- AWS.
- Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of networking including firewalls (preferably Cisco) and switches.
- Knowledge of DHCP / DNS.
- An understanding of virtualisation technologies either VMware / Proxmox / Hyper‑V / KVM.
- A strong desire to automate processes, update documentation and continuously improve processes, and a keen interest in best‑practice system operations.
