We’re seeking an exceptional engineering intern to join Wexler and work directly alongside our expert Software and Machine Learning Engineers. This is a hands-on role, you will contribute to the agent infrastructure of our product, push the product forward through blue sky projects, and have direct impact on a product that expert lawyers use every day.
We are ideally seeking 2026 graduates (or strong second-year students) from top UK universities in Computer Science or a closely related discipline. If you are obsessed with building things, intellectually curious, and excited by the frontier of applied AI, we’d love to meet you.
About Wexler: Legal AI has caught the attention of VCs and the wider tech world, but the reality is adoption with users is low in the enterprise, with roughly 20% of lawyers using AI tech. Of those lawyers, most are transactional or contract lawyers and they use generalist platforms that look to aggregate the tasks lawyers do but do not go deep into specific workflows. That’s where Wexler is different. We are a ‘scalpel’ rather than a ‘Swiss Army knife’, meaning we go deep into the workflows that can decide how a legal case is won. We have had extremely positive feedback from lawyers, and we have an ambitious roadmap of features to expand our coverage while retaining the forensic detail that makes our product great.
Responsibilities:
- Build and develop our agentic infrastructure
- Partner with the technical team to ideate, develop, and execute innovative, forward-looking (“blue sky”) initiatives that enhance and evolve the Wexler product.
- Contribute to customer-facing interfaces that allow legal professionals to interact seamlessly with the product
- Work alongside AI engineers to integrate LLM capabilities into production systems
- Participate in technical architecture discussions and learn engineering best practices from a strong founding team
- Think about the problems that matter most: delightful agentic experiences, performance at scale, and enterprise-grade security
Technical skills:
- Back-end: Proficiency in Node.js / TypeScript or Python — ideally both. Comfort writing clean, testable server-side code.
- Databases: Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred). Understanding of schema design and querying.
- Front-end: Exposure to a modern JS framework (React is our stack). Able to translate product ideas into clean UI.
- Cloud & DevOps: Any experience with AWS, CI/CD pipelines or containerisation is a bonus — not a requirement.
- AI / ML: No prior AI experience is required. Curiosity about LLMs and how they work is all we ask.
You will be:
- A 2026 graduate (or strong 2nd-year) from a top UK university, studying Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related field
- A builder — you have personal projects, hackathon experience, or open-source work that demonstrates you love creating things
- Intellectually curious and excited by the once-in-a-generation platform shift happening in AI
- Full-stack and comfortable getting stuck in wherever needed, be it a customer-facing feature, an internal tool or a performance fix
- Energised by a startup environment: priorities move fast, customers are close, and your work ships the same week it’s written
- Someone who values working with people who are low ego, ambitious and pragmatic
- Comfortable figuring out how to build things you haven’t built before, and asking smart questions when you need to
- Based in (or willing to relocate to) London for the internship. We work 4 days a week in person from our WeWork in Aldwych
What We Offer:
- Real ownership: You will be designing and building the core systems that power AI for some of the most expert users in AI
- Mentorship from experienced software and machine learning engineers, including direct access to the founders
- A clear path to a full-time Software Engineer role for outstanding interns
