About the Role
We’re looking for a Head of Engineering to lead and manage our engineering team while working closely with our CEO & Founder. You’ll be responsible for shaping the technical direction of our innovative AI-products, ensuring we deliver high‑quality, scalable solutions that drive real value for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of designing, developing, and shipping high‑quality software solutions, focus on delivering results that directly impact the business and customers, all whilst meeting launch deadlines.
- Partner with our product managers to identify customer needs and market opportunities, translating them into technical strategies and actionable roadmaps.
- Maintain a strong and continuous focus on increasing development speed & optimisation costs.
- Proactively mentor engineers, sharing knowledge and driving the team forward with a hands‑on approach.
- Help them grow by guiding on real‑world problem solving.
- Support, coach, and develop engineers at all levels.
- Conduct 1‑1s, set clear expectations, and build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Day‑to‑day
- Manage the engineering team’s workload, priorities, and sprint planning together with our Head of Product.
- Provide regular feedback, unblock issues quickly, and ensure progress is tracked against goals.
- Take on projects yourself and improve Echobox products and the underlying architecture.
- Break down complex technical problems and deliver simple, impactful solutions.
- Prioritise speed and execution while ensuring the software remains robust and scalable.
- Lead by example—write clean, maintainable, and high-performance code, and always be the first to push for shipping quality features quickly.
- Continuously optimise and improve existing systems and software—anticipate challenges and take action before they become roadblocks.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field from a top‑tier university.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience, of which minimum 3 years managing engineering teams in fast‑paced environments where development speed is key.
- Natural leader who earns trust with a collaborative, yet persuasive style with excellent organisational, analytical and influencing skills.
- Clear, concise communicator with the ability to explain technical issues to anyone and get things done without unnecessary back‑and‑forth.
- Solid understanding of AI tools which improve efficiency and quality of coding and familiarity with deploying these within the engineering team.
- Proficiency in full‑stack development and experience with modern languages (e.g., Java, Typescript/JS, MySQL/Postgres, MongoDB), always ready to dive in and code when needed.
- Strong background in cloud technologies (AWS) and microservices architectures.
- You know how to make things work, no matter the scale.
- Fluent written and spoken English.

- Experience in a fast‑paced, B2B SaaS environment where moving quickly and delivering value is key.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams within a software organisation.
