The Role: We are looking for an Associate Field Engineer to join our expanding UK team. This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate with 1–2 years of commercial experience, or someone transitioning from the Armed Forces who wants to build hands‑on technical experience working directly with customers, supporting deployments, and showcasing cutting‑edge simulation and distributed computing capabilities. You’ll work alongside Field Engineers and Solutions Consultants across pre‑sales and post‑sales work—helping to build and deliver demonstrations, support customer deployments, run training exercises, and contribute to bids and technical documentation. Over time, you’ll develop the skills and confidence to take on greater ownership of customer‑facing technical delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to customer engagements across pre‑sales and post‑sales activities, helping ensure technical workstreams run smoothly.
- Support solution design work, helping translate requirements into usable, mission‑relevant capabilities and documenting recommended approaches.
- Deliver product demonstrations, tailored to customer needs, including running and supporting hands‑on demos in Hadean’s lab environment and at customer/prospect meetings and events.
- Provide deployment support of a highly technical product set, including installation, configuration and troubleshooting in customer environments—both on‑site and remotely.
- Execute proof‑of‑concept activities by setting up environments, running scenarios, collecting results and documenting outcomes.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including tender responses, RFIs/RFQs, statements of work, evaluation documentation, and supporting technical enquiries.
- Capture and communicate feedback from customer activity back into the business, supporting the improvement of product direction and field readiness.
- Participate in team planning and delivery activities—helping maintain high standards across demos, deployments, and customer support.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
We’re looking for someone early in their career who is technically curious, hands‑on and comfortable working with customers.
Essential:
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in a technical subject such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Maths, Physics, or similar.
- Familiarity with programming fundamentals (e.g., writing scripts/tools, reading and understanding code, and using version control such as Git), gained through university work, projects, or equivalent experience.
- Strong working knowledge of the Linux command line and Bash scripting.
- Strong communication skills—able to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Confidence working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
- Problem‑solving mindset and willingness to learn quickly when troubleshooting technical issues.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% to support customer deployments, demonstrations, and events.
- Interest in defence tech, simulation systems, or generative AI (academic or personal projects are great).
Nice to have:
- Experience (professional, academic, or personal) with distributed and/or federated systems, simulation platforms, or high‑performance computing concepts.
- Experience using C/C++ and/or JavaScript.
- Exposure to modelling & simulation in defence, training, or operational contexts.
- Background in (or strong interest in) defence, national security, or government customers.
- Ex‑Forces applicants are welcome (especially where there is experience supporting training systems, mission rehearsal, or operational technology environments).
Security Requirements:
This role will require you to be eligible to obtain UK security clearance. Specific clearance level will depend on project and customer requirements.
Job Benefits:
- The option to work from home or from our fantastic office in Shoreditch, London.
- Private Health Insurance.
- Enhanced pension scheme.
- Flexible working.
