The Role: We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Accounts Assistant / Accounting Technician to join our growing team based in Banbridge. The successful candidate will support a varied portfolio of clients, working closely with colleagues to deliver high-quality accounting, bookkeeping, and taxation services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing one-to-one and remote accounting software support to clients, primarily using Xero.
- Assisting with the preparation of year-end financial accounts and interim management accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
- Completing nominal ledger and bank reconciliations.
- Filing partnership and company accounts, including corporation tax returns, using TaxCalc software.
- Assisting with the maintenance of the client database, including onboarding new clients and supporting AML compliance processes.
- Liaising with HMRC and Irish Revenue regarding client taxation matters.
- Corresponding directly with clients to resolve queries and provide ongoing support.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with internal processes and deadlines.
- Supporting senior team members with a range of accounting and business support activities.
Full training will be provided, including Xero Advisor Certification and TaxCalc software training.
About You:
- At least 2 years' recent relevant experience using cloud-based accounting or computerised bookkeeping software systems, preferably Xero.
- At least 2 years' experience in an accountancy environment, including bookkeeping, accounts preparation, and taxation.
- A higher education qualification or be currently studying towards a qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Strong numerical, organisational, and time management skills.
- Excellent customer-facing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
