The Role
As Head of Engineering, you'll take full ownership of the Parts Control platform. Architecture, development, integrations, security, and operations. This is a genuinely hands-on leadership role: you'll write code most days, lead a team of senior developers, collaborate with the Head of Product and set the technical direction that keeps us reliable today and scalable for the next stage of growth. You'll work directly with the founder and have real influence over product and technical strategy. If you want to lead engineering at a company where your decisions matter and you can see the direct impact on customers, this is that role.
What You'll Do
- Own the architecture. Define and evolve the platform architecture across our multi-tenant SaaS environment, ensuring it supports both day-to-day reliability and long-term scalability.
- Stay hands-on. Contribute directly across the full stack: front end, back end, APIs, and infrastructure.
- Lead the team. Manage, mentor and grow two senior developers, setting engineering standards, running delivery processes, and building a culture of quality and ownership.
- Run our Azure estate. Own our Azure DevOps pipelines and AKS infrastructure, including CI/CD, environment management, monitoring, and cost optimisation.
- Deliver integrations. Lead the design and delivery of integrations with customer systems: CMMS, ERP, SharePoint and related data sources.
- Own security and compliance. Drive our security posture across infrastructure, code and processes, supporting ISO 27001 certification and enterprise customer security reviews.
- Keep the lights on. Ensure smooth day-to-day platform operations: uptime, incident response, performance, and the tooling and observability to support all of it.
What We're Looking For
- Must have: Strong hands-on full stack development skills, you're still an excellent engineer, not just a manager.
- Deep expertise in Azure DevOps and AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), including CI/CD pipelines, containerised deployments, and production Kubernetes operations.
- Experience owning the architecture of a production SaaS platform, ideally multi-tenant.
- A strong security mindset: experience with security hardening, secure SDLC and ideally ISO 27001 or similar compliance frameworks.
- Experience building and maintaining integrations with third-party or customer systems (APIs, data pipelines, ETL).
- Experience leading and mentoring developers, with the judgement to balance delivery pace against technical debt.
- Excellent communication skills: comfortable explaining technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders and enterprise customers.
- Demonstrable use of the correct AI tools for the correct tasks with a cost optimised approach.
- Forward thinking approach to AI enablement and delivery. You should understand the technologies available and how best to position ourselves, through both the use of internal efficiency tools and delivering product features to our customers.
Ideally
- Experience in industrial B2B software/SaaS or the manufacturing sector: you understand environments like CMMS, ERP, MRO, Part Aftersales or plant operations.
- Exposure to AI/ML-powered product features or data enrichment pipelines.
- Experience supporting enterprise customer security and IT due diligence reviews.
- Experience scaling a platform and team through a company growth phase.
Why Join Us
- Genuine ownership: you'll be the most senior technical person in the business, shaping the platform and the team.
- Proven traction: enterprise customers, measurable customer savings, and strong product-market fit in a large, underserved market.
- The chance to build the engineering function as we scale.
- Company performance incentives available to the right candidate which can be discussed.
- Flexible working patterns with both work from home and in-person office days for collaborative work.
