Job Title: Senior Family Support Worker Hours: Full-Time (40 hours per week) & Part-Time roles available (23 hours & 34.5 hours per week) Salary: £13.50 14.00 per hour Shifts: A combination of dayshifts, nightshifts and weekends Days: 7am-7.30pm and Nights: 7pm-7.30am (2nd Senior) Days: 6.30am 7pm and Nights: 6.30pm 7am (Shift Co-ordinator) An ideal candidate will be an experienced Senior with the required qualification in Health & Social Care, alongside previous experience of leading a shift and with at least two years experience of working with vulnerable adults and/or children in the UK. Discounted gym membership Ty Seren is a Residential Family Centre based in Bridgend, South Wales, we support up to 11 families at any one time, where there are concerns in respect of a parents ability to care for their child. Placements are typically for 14 weeks and include a programme of teaching and assessment. Job Description: The Senior Family Support worker role involves either acting as a Shift Co-ordinator or a 2nd Senior on whilst on shift. It is the Senior Family Support Workers responsibility to support Family Support Workers to safely perform their roles and responsibilities on shift. The Shift Co-ordinator is responsible to for safely leading the shift and the 2nd Senior is responsible for supporting the effective delivery of agreed family activities by the wider team of Family Support Workers, including liaising effectively with our Keyworkers. Core responsibilities/tasks: To promote the Services mission, objectives, vision and values, both internally and externally and comply with all policies, procedures, guidance , code of professional practice, contractual requirements and relevant legislation. Undertake Fire Warden responsibilities and be the nominated first aider on shift Assist families with self-administered medication and ensure any audits are completed in line with PfPs policy Undertake agreed delegated quality checks and reviews (including health and safety and infection control) Share relevant information as needed, listen to and follow directions from the MDT and ensure all allocated duties are completed as requested. In cases where this is not possible, outstanding tasks should be handed over to the next Senior in the same role with a clear rationale of why they have not been achieved Ensure visitors to the centre are welcomed and looked after (with effective handovers of matters arising) Where required, perform such other duties (including minute-taking, delivery of workshops and cover for MDT roles e.g. key working when competent) Attend and contribute to relevant internal and external meetings (esp. those relating to families) Ensure each family is being supported in line with their assessed needs and agreed program of activities and support Support parents to meet their childrens developing needs, considering all aspects to parenting and independent living skills. Support and monitor families directly, or via CCTV, in the centre (including providing cover for family support worker absence/breaks), and also accompanying them in the community Build positive working relationships with family members by adopting a calm, caring yet assertive approach during interactions Help ensure the voices, views and choices of families are sought and represented, including ensuring any concerns or complaints are effectively recorded and shared Monitor record keeping to ensure these are accurate, relevant, complete and timely especially of family observations and interactions Assesses families during targeted formal assessment sessions, supported by the MDT Take responsibility for managing and reporting any safeguarding concerns when they arise in line with national, local and service specific safeguarding procedures for children and adults at risk Whilst uncommon, you may be asked to attend and give evidence at Family Court when required. You will be fully supported throughout this process Be a positive role model and demonstrate strong leadership, helping to develop and drive a culture that is inclusive, open, collaborative, safe and person-centred Mentor new Family Support Workers as part of their induction and to help each Family Support Worker on shift to develop their skills, approaches and competency Participate in all mandatory, service specific and leadership training Attend and engage with feedback, on the job development, formal supervision, reflective practice and annual appraisals Assist with cleaning and infection control duties within the Service. Essential person specification and core requirements: Ability to work flexibly, including days, nights and weekends Willing or already working towards QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or willing to work towards City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) & (Adults). Willing to register with Social Care Wales and to achieve All Wales Induction Framework (AWIF) during probationary period. Demonstrable understanding of the issues regarding confidentiality and the disclosure of personal information. Demonstrable high standard of numeric and literacy skills, ensuring accurate recording of family observations. Understanding and working experience of working with vulnerable adults and / or children i.e. those who have challenging behaviour, mental health needs, learning or physical disabilities and a history of substance misuse. Strong, proactive communicator in all mediums, with the ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of the families Ability to work independently and use own initiative A high standard of organisational skills with the ability to be flexible and re-prioritise for the service needs Effective and accurate administration skills and IT proficiency with working experience of Microsoft Office.
