An established and growing manufacturer within the construction sector is looking to recruit a Technical Design Technician to join its design team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working with detailed drawings and collaborating with customers, architects and project teams to deliver high-quality residential developments across Scotland. Projects range from individual luxury homes through to large multi-phase residential developments of up to 500 properties, meaning no two days are the same.
The Role
You'll become a key member of the technical team, ensuring window and door products meet customer specifications, building regulations and manufacturing requirements. Working closely with architects, contractors, structural engineers and project managers, you'll translate technical information into accurate product schedules and manufacturing data.
Key responsibilities include:
- Attending technical and design meetings with customers and project teams
- Producing and maintaining detailed product schedules using Microsoft Excel
- Interpreting architectural drawings and technical specifications
- Preparing manufacturing information and production take-offs
- Liaising with customers, architects and engineers to ensure technical accuracy
- Supporting technical submissions and product approvals
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and add value through practical design solutions
- Ensuring projects remain technically compliant while supporting cost-effective delivery
What We're Looking For

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Confidence working with technical drawings or engineering information
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with customers and colleagues
- The ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- AutoCAD or similar CAD software
- Windows, doors or glazing products
- Construction or manufacturing
- Architectural technology, engineering or another technical discipline
- NHBC or other warranty provider standards
