We are seeking an experienced, committed and values driven Responsible Individual (RI) to join our care partnership and provide leadership, oversight and governance across our regulated care services.

The Responsible Individual will play a key role in ensuring that the organisation delivers safe, effective, compassionate and person-centred care, while meeting all relevant regulatory, legislative and quality standards.

This is an important leadership position for someone who understands the responsibilities associated with regulated care and can provide effective oversight, challenge and support to the organisation and wider management team.

Key Responsibilities

As Responsible Individual, you will:

  • Provide strategic oversight of the regulated care service (Domiciliary & Residential) and ensure effective governance arrangements are in place.
  • Work closely with the Regional & Appointed Managers to monitor the quality and safety of care.
  • Ensure the service operates in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, contractual requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Promote a strong culture of safeguarding, dignity, respect and person-centred care.
  • Monitor quality assurance systems, audits, incidents, complaints, safeguarding concerns and service-user feedback.
  • Ensure appropriate action is taken where improvements are identified.
  • Support continuous improvement and the development of robust policies and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, resources, training and support are available to deliver high-quality care.
  • Maintain effective oversight of risk management and compliance.
  • Review performance information and use it to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work constructively with regulators, commissioners, professionals, families and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure the views, rights and wellbeing of people receiving care remain central to decision-making.
  • Promote an open culture where concerns are listened to, investigated and acted upon.

About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Significant experience within health or social care, ideally within a regulated care environment.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding, quality assurance, governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience of providing senior leadership, oversight or organisational governance.
  • Knowledge of the responsibilities associated with the Responsible Individual role.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to analyse information, identify risks and take appropriate action.
  • A commitment to person-centred care and improving outcomes for people who use services.
  • Strong organisational and decision-making skills.
  • Professional integrity, accountability and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with Managers, staff, professionals, families and external agencies.
  • Able to Register with CIW as a Responsible Individual
  • Relevant Qualification for the role
  • Ability to undertake out of hours support
  • Previous experience as a Responsible Individual or equivalent senior governance role.
  • Experience working with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) or another UK care regulator, as applicable.
  • Experience overseeing multiple care services or a care partnership.
  • Knowledge of current developments in health and social care regulation and best practice.
