About the Practice: West Bridgford Medical Centre is a busy and friendly GP practice providing high-quality care to our patients. We are seeking a motivated and reliable Reception / Administration Assistant to join our supportive team.

Main Duties:

  • To ensure the reception and administrative functions of the practice run smoothly, providing a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses, and the wider practice team.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer telephone calls
  • Book appointments
  • Register new and temporary patients
  • Deal with prescription requests and queries
  • Give out results in line with practice protocols
  • Arrange ambulance transport and home visits
  • Greet and direct patients
  • Hand out prescriptions
  • Collect payments for non-NHS services
  • Manage general enquiries and complaints
  • File and retrieve patient records
  • Input and extract information from the practice computer system
  • Support admin tasks such as recalls and cytology
  • Maintain confidentiality and security
  • Observe health and safety procedures
  • Keep reception and waiting areas tidy
  • Communicate effectively with patients and team members
  • Take requests for repeat prescriptions
  • Raise prescriptions as per practice protocols
  • Deal with queries relating to prescriptions
  • Observe confidentiality policy and guidelines at all times
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of practice IT and telephone systems
  • Support equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues
  • Have an overview of admin tasks (e.g., cytology admin, recalls)
  • Communicate effectively with team members and patients
  • Any other reasonable duties as necessary

Person Specification:

Experience:

  • Experience of working within the NHS
  • Experience of working in General Practice
  • Experience of working within GP Medical Reception
  • Experience of working as a medical secretary

Qualifications:

  • Good standard of general education
  • GCSE Mathematics C or above
  • GCSE English C or above
