As an Urban Economist at Foster + Partners, you will help shape the economic foundations of innovative urban projects across the globe. Working within a multidisciplinary team of designers, planners and researchers, you’ll develop strategic economic insights, analyse city‑scale trends, and translate data into narratives that strengthen project visions, masterplans and regeneration strategies.
This role is ideal if you want to:
- Conduct economic and spatial research across cities, regions and development sites.
- Analyse demographic trends, real‑estate markets, industry sectors and urban policies.
- Develop economic narratives, strategic rationales and project positioning.
- Prepare economic programmes, briefs and demand/supply assessments for masterplans.
- Contribute to R&D initiatives by creating tools, methodologies and analytical frameworks.
What you will bring to the team:
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Familiarity with economic, spatial and real‑estate analysis methods.
- High proficiency in Excel for modelling and data analysis.
- Ability to contribute clearly and confidently to project narratives and reports.
- A proactive, collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience or academic background in urban economics, economic development, real estate or urban planning.
- Experience with GIS or spatial analysis tools is beneficial.
