We are looking for a talented investment professional to join our investment team. Candidates who are considering a career in investment management and who want to develop investment insights across all asset classes, and from some of the best asset managers in the world are likely to find the opportunity at Partners Capital compelling.

Client Investment Strategy (80%): The portfolio management team is to specify, develop and execute our clients’ investment strategies. This involves, among other things, the setting of long-term asset allocation targets, the evaluation and selection of third-party investment managers, the design and oversight of derivative overlay strategies, the research and generation of tactical asset allocation ideas, and attendance at client meetings to report on investment performance and discuss investment strategy. You will initially be allocated around a dozen investment portfolios, which will cover a range of institutional and family office clients. Each client is typically supported by a team of 3 to 5 people, with whom you will work on a day-to-day basis. With support and training, you will gradually take the lead in client interactions, which include regular portfolio reviews, presentations, and ad-hoc queries.

Other (20%): In addition to the above, you will take on other activities and projects, which might include: coaching and mentoring junior colleagues, interviewing Investment Associate candidates, participating in pitches to prospective clients, performing due diligence on third-party investment managers, co-authoring investment strategy White Papers and helping to develop our technological capabilities. Key responsibilities will be assessed and are subject to change from time to time based on the needs of the business. As with all other members of the firm, you will be expected to contribute to other areas of the business for example special research projects, recruiting, training or business development.

Position Attributes:

  • Approximately 5 years’ investment experience preferably from an investment bank, asset-management firm, management consultant, investment consultant, or asset allocator.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation-based communication skills.
  • A mature, balanced and convincing communication style.
  • Be comfortable and confident interacting with business leaders and sophisticated asset managers.
  • Possess a high level of numeracy, strong quantitative and analytical skills with an active interest in investment and capital markets.
  • Good problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Have the ability to thrive in a collaborative working environment.
  • Possess a strategic mind-set and be able to evidence a flexible entrepreneurial attitude with an ability to support a developing strategy within a fast-moving and high energy organisation.
  • Self-motivated with an exemplary work ethic and a history of demonstrating sound judgment and decision-making.
  • An appetite for tackling challenging projects, and the ability to adapt to fluctuating requirements and priorities.
  • Strong academic credentials with undergraduate and/or graduate degrees from a leading educational institution.
  • CFA chartership is preferred but not essential.
