We are seeking a proactive, organised and hardworking individual to join our Group Retrocession team. The role involves managing and optimising a diverse portfolio of ceded retrocession and reinsurance programmes across multiple lines of business, with broad exposure to both Cat and Non‑Cat protections. The position offers close interaction with internal stakeholders, brokers and senior client relationships, and the opportunity to contribute directly to strategic decision‑making.
Responsibilities
- Placement Management: Managing the process of data collection and selection to prepare a high‑quality submission to the market. Managing across the lifecycle of placements, including pre‑renewal kick‑offs, renewals, and post‑renewal de‑briefs/updates together with brokers. Ensuring that covers are purchased in accordance with security requirements, underwriting strategy and internal processes, as per the External Retrocession Policy.
- Support Retrocession Strategy: Supporting and contributing to the evaluation of retrocession strategy for selected lines of business. Working with internal stakeholders to understand portfolio development and risk drivers to recommend and optimise retrocession strategy, including new purchases. Analyzing and reporting on retrocession market, technical developments and new products, including consulting with brokers. Leading retrocession‑specific projects.
- Market Management: Building strong relationships with brokers and markets and representing PartnerRe at appropriate conferences and market events. Building structured marketing plans to ensure adequate touch points with brokers/markets throughout the year.
Education: University degree in a relevant field.
Experience: 5‑15 years of experience within non‑life reinsurance, ideally across multiple lines either in underwriting or broking. Strong understanding of reinsurance structures and contract wordings. Experience participating in or leading projects.
Skills & Qualities: Strong analytical mindset: able to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights. Effective communicator who can translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise messages and is comfortable communicating with executive‑level management. Strategic thinker with a solid grasp of negotiation. Collaborative and proactive team player comfortable navigating a matrixed and global organisation. Highly organised self‑starter with strong project management capabilities and impeccable attention to detail. Naturally curious, eager to learn new topics and form new relationships continuously. Proficiency in Excel – additional data analysis tools could be a plus (e.g. Power BI).
