What You’ll Do
- Engineer and support high-availability MySQL environments across production systems.
- Optimise database performance through indexing, schema design, slow-query analysis, and tuning.
- Manage upgrades, migrations, replication configuration, and failover with minimal downtime.
- Build monitoring, alerting, and observability for proactive issue detection.
- Collaborate with developers to embed database best practice into application design.
- Contribute to internal tooling, automation, and documentation to uplift the entire platform.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong MySQL experience – query tuning, replication, schema design, operations.
- Hands-on experience with DB monitoring tools (Percona Toolkit, PMM, Grafana, Prometheus).
- Solid Linux fundamentals and comfort with networking concepts.
- Experience supporting databases for high-scale or production-critical systems.
- Strong communication and the ability to partner effectively with engineering teams.
Nice-to-Have
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL or NoSQL systems (MongoDB, Druid).
- Scripting/automation (Python, Bash).
- Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).
