What You’ll Do
- Own design, optimisation, and scaling of high-availability MySQL systems.
- Improve query performance, indexing strategy, and schema design to keep our platform fast and efficient.
- Manage upgrades, migrations, and replication topologies (GTID, multi‑master, geo‑replication) with minimal downtime.
- Monitor, detect, and resolve database performance issues before they impact customers.
- Partner with engineering teams to evolve our database architecture as the platform grows.
- Set best practice, mentor engineers, and uplift database engineering across the organisation.
What You Bring
- Deep MySQL expertise - performance tuning, replication, schema optimisation, and backup/recovery.
- Hands‑on experience with Percona Toolkit, Performance Schema, PMM, Grafana, or Prometheus.
- Strong Linux fundamentals and an understanding of networking basics.
- Experience supporting high‑scale or high‑volume production systems.
- Excellent communication and the ability to collaborate with product, engineering, and platform teams.
Nice‑to‑Have
- PostgreSQL or NoSQL experience (MongoDB, Druid).
- Experience with automation (Python, Bash, Ansible).
- Exposure to containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
