PHL Group have an exciting opportunity for a Dermatology Service Manager to join our team on a full time basis.
Role Overview
The primary focus of the service manager is the provision of high quality and timely dermatology patient centred care in a Community Dermatology setting. The post holder will be responsible for the successful operation of the designated contracts for provision of dermatology services under contract to the NHS. This will involve ensuring that services are delivered safely, effectively and to a high standard of quality, complying with or exceeding the specifications commissioned by the NHS. The role will be based at Manchester locality but will require travel to other bases within the areas covered by the designated contracts. Key Responsibilities
- To ensure that the service always maintains operational efficiency through correct allocation of resources, within budget restrictions.
- Using activity information, actively manage demand and capacity of the service.
- To identify desirable changes or modifications and deliver process enhancements and improvements to support the business development.
- To support the Operational Business Manager as necessary implementing changes to support the delivery of services.
- Identify, make recommendations and seek approval from the Senior Management Team for any efficiency that could be made within the provision of service, to facilitate quality improvement within the organisation.
- Deal appropriately with instructions and queries and escalate to senior management where appropriate.
- To ensure clinical sessions are filled with the appropriately trained staff.
- Escalate any shortfalls in staffing fulfilment allocation, ensure resilience within the delivery of services and develop further resilience across support services.
- Ensure that clinical sessions are booked onto SystmOne in a timely manner to facilitate direct booking via E-RS.
- Monitor and address any E-RS “slot issues” as they arise.
- Ensure that sites are ready and stocked for delivery of services.
- Ensure a minimum level of stock is always available for the service.
- Attend training and meetings as and when required to do so by the management team.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to all issues concerned within the service and adhere to About Health policy ensuring staff are aware of their obligations.
- Notify the Operational Business Manager of any circumstances which may affect the provision of a high-quality service.
- Organise and prioritise effectively own work schedule, to ensure operational excellence with minimum supervision.
- Deal with matters raised under the complaints / incidents procedure / protocol and using the procedure / protocol when answering queries and complying with requests from the Clinical Governance team for statements and information requests within the specified timeframe.
Requirements
- Operational experience within a healthcare environment
- Leadership/management experience
- Degree in Business Administration (equivalent or higher)
- Line management experience e.g. rostering, budgets, appraisals, absence monitoring/management
- Working within a busy service environment communicating with a variety of staff groups
