PHL are looking to recruit Receptionist/Drivers as a dual role on a bank basis. As a key member of our operational support team, your role is to support colleagues and patients across Staffordshire. As a Receptionist/Driver you will work covering various sites.

Our receptionists are responsible for effective delivery of a prompt and courteous service to all patients, visitors, and members of the clinical team. You will liaise with the Team Leader/Service Delivery Manager to ensure that the patient receives a first class and seamless service. As an integral team member, you will be accountable for completing the tasks as set out for you, helping to create a respectful environment in which to work and ensuring supplies processes adhere to our value of caring for our patients.

Our drivers are responsible for safely transporting clinicians and clinical equipment to patients' home addresses who require a home visit. Additionally, there may be a requirement for drivers to provide chaperone services to both clinicians and patients. This is an essential primary care service not an emergency service and therefore drivers do not have special priorities over other road users. Drivers must carry out all driving duties in a safe and legal manner ensuring that the vehicle is driven, and passengers are carried in full compliance within current driving regulations and codes principally the Road Traffic Act and the Highway Code.

What You’ll Do – Receptionist

  • Monitor the electronic booking system and liaise with Team Leaders / Service Delivery Manager with any workload concerns.
  • Escalate any concerns or signs of a deteriorating patient to the clinician working on site for immediate intervention.
  • Book patients in on arrival and follow up with patients who ‘Do Not Attend’ (DNA).
  • Manage expectations of the patients in the waiting area.

What You’ll Do – Driver

  • Ensure that any pre-shift car inspections, both external and internal, are carried out to check for any damage and lack of cleanliness. You will also be responsible for the parking area, driver’s cupboard and any other surrounding areas ensuring all are kept tidy. If anything is observed, then observations to be recorded on the drivers Fleet Check App.
  • Ensure Medical Equipment, Drug boxes and Handheld Equipment are in the car at start of shift & returned to designated storage at end of shift.
  • Collect prescription packs from the base ensuring you record the details accurately.
  • Ensure that the car computer is set up, fully charged and ready for the clinician to log into when they arrive on shift and the car has stock of all necessary paperwork/ envelopes etc.
  • Support the clinician with any tasks as requested. This includes chaperoning the clinician on all patient home visits.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in Reception / Customer Service or administration is highly desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate empathy when dealing with patients and clinical staff including those from different backgrounds.
  • A good knowledge of IT systems and how to use everyday technology.
  • A good standard of literacy.
  • The ability to work under pressure as an individual and a key team member when required.
