Head of Commercial Finance in Chelmsford

Up to £100,000 + car allowance + bonus + package

Partner Financial are pleased to be supporting a private equity-backed business services company in the appointment of a Head of Commercial Finance. This is a strategically important role designed to strengthen commercial finance capability and support the delivery of an ambitious growth and value creation plan.

The business is entering a phase where the speed, quality and credibility of financial insights are critical. While core financial control and reporting are well established, there is now a need for an enhanced FP&A leadership and deeper commercial business partnering to meet evolving investor and operational expectations.

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, the Head of Commercial Finance will operate as a senior FP&A and commercial lead within the finance leadership team. Working closely with Board of Directors and senior operational stakeholders, the role will provide forward‑looking analysis, scenario modelling and value‑driver insight to support strategic decision‑making and long‑term performance improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting processes, incorporating robust scenario and sensitivity analysis.
• Embed finance as a strategic partner across commercial and operational decision‑making, including pricing, investment appraisal and cost optimisation.
• Develop advanced financial models, dashboards and performance reporting to enhance visibility of key drivers.
• Improve data quality and analytical capability.
• Deliver investor‑quality insight and board‑level analysis.
• Build and challenge revenue forecasts and pipeline assumptions to strengthen predictability.
• Support capital allocation decisions through detailed financial evaluation and ROI analysis.
• Enhance understanding of P&L, cash flow, balance sheet and KPI performance across the Group.

Qualifications and Experience

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong financial modelling and analytical capability.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive improved performance outcomes.
• Highly analytical and data‑literate with strong commercial judgement.
• Confident communicator, able to translate complex analysis into clear insight.
• Self‑starter with high levels of ownership and resilience.
