The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and experienced Family Solicitor to lead and develop the firm's Private Family Law department. This position is ideally suited to a solicitor seeking progression into a leadership role or an established Senior Associate or Head of Department looking for a new challenge.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and expanding the family law offering, taking ownership of departmental growth, strategy, and team development. The firm already generates a consistent stream of family law enquiries through its website, marketing initiatives, and direct client contact, providing a strong foundation from which to build a thriving department.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Private Family Law department.
- Develop and implement strategies to grow the department and increase revenue.
- Handle a varied caseload of private family law matters.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage team members as the department expands.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Drive business development and networking activities to attract new clients and referral sources.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider firm to maximise cross-referral opportunities.
- Ensure excellent client care and high professional standards are maintained at all times.
- Candidate Profile
- The ideal candidate will be a motivated and commercially minded Family Solicitor with a passion for leadership and business growth. You will have the confidence and ability to establish and develop a department, while setting high standards through a hands‑on and supportive management style.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 4 years' post-qualification experience in Family Law.
- Strong experience handling private family law matters.
- Proven ability to generate work through business development and networking activities.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience would be highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
- Commercially aware with a strategic approach to departmental growth.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while fostering a collaborative team culture.
