We are hiring our first Forward Deployed Engineer to put Parsewise into the hands of insurance/reinsurance customers and make it deliver value from day one. This is a hybrid role for someone who can sit with an underwriter or broker in the morning, understand their workflow and their tech stack, and build the core platform in the afternoon. You will be the bridge between our customers and our platform, flexing between customer deployments and building the product.
Parsewise is a YC-backed startup that's live with leading companies in insurance and reinsurance. Underwriters, brokers, and risk teams use Parsewise to read full submission and claims files end-to-end, turn them into structured, source-linked, decision-ready data, and surface the key risk signals in a dedicated UI that fits their workflow. We are growing a team of driven, high-ownership people to stay at the cutting edge of this technology wave and deliver on its promise for regulated buyers.
We're building the most reliable and scalable pipelines for unstructured data. Beyond the document ingestion and understanding that out-of-the-box LLMs can solve, we give business users a level of AI support that no chatbot can provide, tackling the hardest parts of the technology head-on: hallucinations, explainability, and scalability.
As our Forward Deployed Engineer, you will own the customer journey from first deployment to durable value. You will:
- Onboard new insurance and reinsurance customers onto Parsewise, from first data ingestion to first decision-ready output.
- Deploy and configure the platform inside customer environments, integrating with their stacks and workflows.
- Translate messy, real-world underwriting, claims, and broking documents into working Parsewise configurations, often with the customer in the room.
- Flex between go-to-market and deployment: join commercial conversations, scope use cases, run demos and pilots, then build the deployment that proves them out.
- Bring the lessons learned with the customer and build them directly into the product.
Technology changes rapidly, so we value quick learning very highly. You will work across our stack: Python, TypeScript, Terraform, AWS, Vercel, and PostgreSQL, plus the customer systems we integrate into.
What We Value
- Empathy & Collaboration: You are an effective communicator, sharp, and a team player.
- Problem-Solving: You approach challenges with a first-principles mindset and prioritise deep understanding before implementation. A lot of what we build does not have an industry standard to follow.
- Ownership: You are self-motivated and take responsibility for delivering high-quality work without needing oversight. We are a small and growing team, and you will be expected to take ownership.
- Non-conventional thinking/risk-taking: You are eager to take calculated, smart risks.
What We Are Looking For
- A strong engineering foundation: you can write production-quality code (Python and/or TypeScript), work with APIs and data, and integrate software into a customer's stack.
- Go-to-market skills: You are comfortable in commercial conversations, scoping use cases, and moving a pilot forward.
- Proven ability to ship high-quality work in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
- A passion for learning and a willingness to dive deep into both technical and domain challenges.
- In-office by default (we're a fun bunch + snacks), with the option for occasional remote work.
- 2+ years of commercial (re)insurance experience, with real fluency in how underwriting, broking, and claims actually work.
- Network in insurance and reinsurance, especially in the London market, that you can open doors with.
What We Offer
- Compensation: We offer flexible packages (base pay of £80-100k; equity of 0.5-1%).
- Growth: an opportunity to work on state-of-the-art AI with ownership and direct impact on customers and revenue.
- Collaboration: a team of highly curious and motivated people who inspire and challenge each other daily.
- Benefits: "take what you need" PTO, annual company retreats, health benefits, and more to come.
