(Change Management in Engineering & Product Organisations)

Location: London (1-3 times a week on-site)

Full-Time | Senior Role

About the Role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to play a pivotal role in large-scale technology transformation programmes. This is a long-term, high-impact role aimed at developing a practice at Parser that will work with our clients in adopting modern engineering practices, improving team structures, and enabling their future growth.

The ideal candidate is an experienced technical leader and manager of teams who has a proven track record of effecting positive change in their teams in regards to their ways of working, how they interact with Product, and how their team focuses on Delivery. You can demonstrate strong technical and people leadership, a commitment to delivering excellent product-based engineering solutions, an ability to understand and coach individuals and whole teams, and have built strong stakeholder relationships.

A strong technical background in coding, architecture, and Ops is essential, as well as an ability to understand and analyse team technical and operational performance. While this is a hands-off and stack-agnostic position, the role includes guiding teams in engineering delivery. You should feel very confident in defining the architecture, planning, delivering, and monitoring product-based engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-impact outcomes through organisational and operational excellence

1. Change Strategy & Planning

  • Be part of a team that designs and executes a bold, outcome-driven change management strategy that enables the entire organisation to adopt modern, scalable ways of working.
  • Define measurable success criteria focused not only on adoption and process, but on delivering business outcomes that are fit-for-purpose, high-quality, and timely.
  • Align change initiatives with business priorities, product strategy, and customer impact β€” ensuring that operational transformation directly contributes to measurable value.

2. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Serve as a trusted advisor across senior leadership, data/tech leads, and business stakeholders to align on a shared vision and outcomes.
  • Facilitate open and structured communication channels that foster transparency, collaboration, and continuous feedback.
  • Translate strategic ambitions into practical change narratives that resonate at every level, from exec sponsors to engineering squads.

3. Change Adoption & Enablement

  • Empower teams to embed new practices and mindsets through immersive enablement β€” including training, playbooks, and coaching.
  • Establish change champions and communities of practice to sustain momentum and ensure behaviours align with strategic goals.
  • Remove friction to adoption by simplifying complexity, aligning incentives, and celebrating quick wins that demonstrate impact.

4. Risk & Impact Management

  • Identify organisational and operational risks early, and proactively design change interventions that minimise disruption and maximise trust.
  • Pilot and iterate on new ways of working before scaling, ensuring that impact is measurable, repeatable, and adaptable across teams.
  • Constantly assess and recalibrate change strategy based on delivery feedback, adoption metrics, and shifting business context.

5. Measurement & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain outcome-focused dashboards and reporting frameworks to measure the impact of change at both team and enterprise levels.
  • Track business-aligned KPIs such as delivery cycle time, data quality, user satisfaction, and commercial outcomes.
  • Provide leadership with insight and confidence that transformation is not just happening, but delivering clear, measurable business value.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strategic Thinker: You can distil complex technical challenges into clear, high-level priorities.
  • Technical Acumen: You understand architecture, scalability, and platform modernisation at a deep enough level to lead conversations with engineers.
  • Business-Driven Approach: You are commercially aware and can articulate the business impact of technical decisions.
  • Strong Stakeholder Management: You can confidently work with C-level executives, product teams, and engineering leadership to align priorities.
  • Results-Oriented: You focus on outcomes, ensuring modernisation efforts translate into measurable impact.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in Operations/Change Management, preferably at a top Consulting firm, professional software development or IT management
  • Minimum 5 years in software development roles
  • Minimum 5 years in Engineering Management and above roles
  • London-based, with flexibility for travel.
  • Strong technical background:
  • Two or more popular web development programming languages (C#, JS/TS, Python, Java, Ruby, PHP)
  • One or more cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Containerisation technologies
  • Knowledge of microservices and event-driven architecture.
  • CI/CD, pipelines development, Infrastructure As a Code
  • Monitoring and alerting tools and practices
  • Experience with agile methodologies, security, performance and DevOps practices
  • Bonus: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Data Science or equivalent
  • Bonus: A consulting background effecting change in technical organisations
