The Senior Business Development Consultant will work closely with their aligned regional sales manager/director to manage and nurture key customer accounts, ensuring long-term relationships and the development of new business opportunities for Parmenion. The focus is on building deep, commercially viable relationships with strategic partner firms, prioritising customer service and satisfaction. The role involves regular client engagement, managing both regional and national accounts, and working collaboratively to meet client needs and exceed expectations.

Key duties include executing the Regional Sales and Marketing Plan, maintaining strong relationships with key decision-makers, and ensuring clients receive high levels of service through effective coordination of internal resources. The Business Development consultant role splits into 4 key areas:

  • Telephone based account support direct and through BDM
  • Support BDMs with the preparation for meetings and building collateral.
  • Providing office support, meeting follow up, writing content/packs for BDM’s, capturing BDM admin.
  • Support for escalations over and above Client Services, and Account Support BAU liaising with all parts of the business.

Ideal candidates will have strong experience in customer account management within financial services, with excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills. A proactive, customer-focused approach is essential to drive mutual success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hunting: Develop initial engagement with strategic partners by creating contact campaigns and managing engagement strategies. Conduct initial 'light' fact finds and qualify opportunities before handing over to the BDM for full discovery. Deliver high-level platform demonstrations where appropriate. Support the BDM by preparing meeting collateral, pitch packs and gathering supporting material from across the business. Provide BDM administrative support, including meeting follow-up, content creation and Salesforce updates. Conduct post-BDM meeting follow-ups, delivering agreed actions and maintaining momentum with prospective firms. Maintain oversight of Salesforce throughout the hunting process, ensuring all meetings, accounts and opportunities are accurately captured and maintained. Represent Parmenion at industry networking events, conferences and seminars to generate awareness and new opportunities.
  • Onboarding: Arrange face-to-face meetings between the BDM, advisers and key office personnel to support a smooth onboarding process. Delivery of onboarding and training programmes, this includes sales demos to prospects and new supporters. Facilitate key stakeholder meetings following training and the completion of initial client cases. Ensure Salesforce records remain accurate and up to date throughout the onboarding journey, supporting effective account tracking and reporting. 1st case support with new advisers. Provide ongoing coordination between advisers and internal stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and early adoption of the proposition.
  • Account Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with advisers, supporting Investment Management Reviews (IMRs), case work and escalations. Build relationships with paraplanners, supporting complex cases and proposition queries. Build relationships with administrators, providing case support, escalation management and identifying training opportunities for new and existing team members. Conduct proactive account management activity to maintain engagement, strengthen relationships and identify opportunities for growth. Undertake data mining activity, including IMRs, outflows and conversion analysis, identifying commercial opportunities for the BDM to progress. Maintain ownership of the Strategic Partner reporting spreadsheet, ensuring accurate data capture and reporting. Quarterly solution reports creation and planning for BDM ahead of review meetings. Regularly review and maintain adviser records, proactively adding new firms and advisers while removing inactive or retired contacts to ensure data quality. Produce and distribute monthly account notes and MI to agreed contacts.

  • Proposition Delivery: Present tailored solutions to clients, effectively communicating value propositions to secure sales opportunities.
  • Relationship Management: Develop and maintain long-term, high-value relationships with clients, fostering trust and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Engage relevant departments across the business to support client needs and ensure the delivery of appropriate solutions.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Stay informed on industry regulations and compliance standards to ensure best practices when dealing with clients within a regulated environment.
  • Technology and Investment Solutions: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of investment management solutions and the increasing role of technology in financial services to better serve clients’ needs.
