The Role
We are looking for a creative and commercially minded Social Media Manager to lead our overarching social media strategy and oversee the digital presence across our diverse portfolio of facilities.
In this role, you will be the bridge between our central support team and our on-site teams.
You will drive awareness, manage our organic community engagement, and execute paid social campaigns to boost memberships, event ticket sales, and local participation.
You will need to balance the overarching brand messaging with the unique, local identities of our individual leisure centres and cultural venues.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Execution
- Strategic Leadership.
Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy across Meta Reels and feed posts, X, Linked In, Tik Tok, Instagram and You Tube, aligning with Parkwood's commercial goals and community focused mission.
- Content Creation & Management.
Oversee the creation of high quality, engaging content including video, imagery, and copy that resonates with our diverse audiences, from local gym goers to theatre enthusiasts.
- Paid Social.
Manage our paid social agency partner and collaborate with the wider digital marketing team to manage and optimise paid social campaigns aimed at lead generation, membership sales, and footfall.
Also requires knowledge of creating, posting and managing adverts on Google and Meta platforms as a minimum.
- Campaign Management. Conceptualise and deliver multi platform social media campaigns to support national initiatives, seasonal promotions, and local health outreach programmes.
- Community & Team Support
- Local Empowerment.
Create social media toolkits, guidelines, and templates to empower our local centre managers and duty managers to promote their specific facilities effectively.
- Training & Mentorship.
Act as the central social media expert, fostering a culture of learning by providing training and best practice guidance to internal stakeholders and local social media champions.
- Community Management. Monitor online sentiment, ensure timely responses to customer inquiries across social channels, and maintain our reputation for customer service excellence.
- Analytics & Innovation
- Reporting.
Regularly analyse social media metrics using tools like Google Analytics, Hootsuite, or native platform insights, optimise content based on performance, and provide actionable ROI reports to senior management.
- Trend Spotting. Stay ahead of the curve on emerging social trends, algorithm changes, and digital innovations to ensure Parkwood Leisure remains a leader in the digital space.
What We're Looking For
- Experience. 3 to 5 years of experience in a strategic social media marketing role, ideally within the leisure, hospitality, or multi site retail sectors.
- Commercial Acumen.
A proven track record of creating compelling organic content that seamlessly integrates with paid advertising to drive tangible business results such as membership sign ups or ticket sales.
- Platform Mastery.
Deep understanding of all major social media platforms, their algorithms, and best practices for both engagement and growth. 3 to 5 years of experience in building campaigns within platforms directly through Meta Business Suite, Google Ads Manager and Tag Manager.
- Analytical Skills. Confidence in interpreting data and using analytics tools to pivot strategies and prove campaign effectiveness.
- Communication and Collaboration.
Exceptional copywriting skills and the ability to build strong relationships with local site managers, external agencies, and the central marketing team.
- Creativity. A proactive, ideas first mindset with a passion for promoting health, wellbeing, and community engagement.
