This role suits someone who is confident leading by example on site, takes pride in high standards of work, and can organise themselves and a small team to deliver tasks safely, efficiently, and to specification.
The Opportunity
As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a small grounds maintenance team (typically up to two operatives) and delivering programmed works across a range of sites. This is a hands‑on role, combining practical grounds maintenance with responsibility for day‑to‑day organisation, productivity, and site standards. You will work closely with your supervisor, manage daily workloads, operate machinery, and ensure that work is completed safely, on time, and to the expected quality. The role covers both summer and winter operations and requires a practical, organised approach to leading people and managing equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a small grounds maintenance team on site
- Plan out workloads and ensure all allocated sites are completed
- Operate grounds maintenance machinery safely and efficiently
- Use ride‑on, pedestrian, and tractor‑mounted equipment where required
- Carry out daily checks, basic maintenance, and cleaning of machinery
- Monitor quality, safety, and productivity on site
- Report defects, issues, and site concerns promptly
- Act as the main point of contact for your team during the working day
The Person
- Has experience in grounds maintenance and leading or mentoring others
- Is confident organising their own work and guiding a small team
- Has experience operating ride‑on equipment (desirable)
- Has towing experience, or is willing to work towards it
- Understands safe working practices and machinery limitations
- Is reliable, proactive, and comfortable taking responsibility on site
- Communicates clearly with supervisors, colleagues, and clients
A full UK driving licence is essential. Machinery tickets or formal qualifications are desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.

- Pay up to £13.50 per hour (DOE)
- Ongoing training and development, including machinery and towing
- Annual leave increasing with service
- Free gym membership for you and a nominated person
- Employee health cash plan
- Employee discount portal (travel, retail, leisure, days out)
