We are looking for 2 experienced Practice Nurses to join our friendly and supportive team at Parkway Medical Group. The Practice is committed to delivering high quality patient care which requires us to have a supportive and cohesive team. We are seeking two skilled and enthusiastic Practice Nurses with chronic disease experience to join our nursing team. The position is available for the start of November 2025. If you have the required general practice experience, we would be delighted to receive your application.
Both posts are part-time positions:
- Thursday 8am - 6pm
- Friday 8am - 6pm
- Post 2: 13 hours per week Friday 8am - 6pm
Main duties of the job include:
- Long Term Condition management
- Wound care management
- Cytology
- Child Immunisations
- Vaccinations
- Contraception
- Swabs, specimens, bloods, blood pressures
- Infection control
- Keeping accurate and detailed health records on SystmOne clinical system
- A key role in QOF/PEP achievement
- Involvement in the MDT of the Surgery
- Support for GPs in patient care
- Participate in local initiatives to enhance patient care
About us:
Parkway Medical Group is a friendly, well-established, enthusiastic practice with around 8,350 patients. We have 3 GP partners, 5 salaried GPs, 2 Practice Nurses and 2 Health Care Assistants. The practice is based in a modern purpose-built Health Centre in Chapel House.
We have high QOF achievement year on year and regular training sessions throughout the year. The Nurse and HCA team have a daily morning coffee break, weekly Clinical team huddles, and weekly Nurse/HCA meetings.
Main Duties and responsibilities include:
- Wound care
- Removal of Sutures / clips
- Urinalysis
- ECGs
- Year of Care and Chronic disease Management such as Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Hypertension
- Venepuncture
- Cervical cytology smear tests
- Health Screening
- General health advice
- Routine immunisations / Child Immunisations
- Routine Injections
- Contraception
- Travel Clinic
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate
- Requesting pathology tests
- Following agreed clinical protocols
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
- Participate in maintaining Nurses rooms
- Undertake housekeeping duties
- Ordering of stock to maintain safe stock levels
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records
- Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required
- Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
- Maintain effective liaison with other agencies & staff concerned with patient care
Person Specification:
- Qualifications: RGN, Experience of working in Primary Care, Understanding the complexities of managing change, Management and education of patients with chronic diseases, Childhood immunisations, Cytology and women's health, Travel health, Sexual health, Spirometry
- Experience: Minimum 2 years post registration experience, At least 1 year recent primary nursing experience, Management of long-term conditions, Involvement in implementing and using protocols and clinical guidelines, CQC experience of requirements, Experience of audit
- Other requirements: Willing to work flexible hours, Highly motivated, Enthusiastic Team player, Basic IT Skills
