Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ARRS Role) 12 month Maternity Cover
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our team on a fixed-term maternity cover basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality, patient-centred care within a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will work autonomously at an advanced level of practice, providing expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients within the specialty/service area.
This is a reimbursable ARRS role, offering the opportunity to work at the top of your license in a supportive, forward-thinking practice.
Main duties of the job
As an ACP, you’ll deliver high-quality, evidence-based care through triage, face-to-face and remote consultations, and clinical leadership. You’ll manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, contribute to service development, and support the delivery of national frameworks including Network DES and QOF.
The ACP role encompasses the four pillars of advanced practice clinical expertise, leadership and management, education, and research and supports the delivery of national and local service requirements, including the Network DES and Quality Improvement frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
Act as a first point of contact for patients via triage, face-to-face, telephone, or online consultations.
Independently assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients with undifferentiated and complex presentations.
Request and interpret diagnostic tests and investigations as appropriate.
Prescribe and review medications in accordance with clinical guidelines and legal frameworks.
Provide personalised, holistic care that promotes self‑management, prevention, and health improvement.
Identify and manage long‑term conditions where appropriate, working closely with the practice nursing and GP teams.
Refer patients to other services and agencies when clinically indicated.
Maintain accurate, contemporaneous records in line with professional and practice standards.
Leadership, Education & Quality
Contribute to service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives within the practice.
Support the clinical team through supervision, mentoring, and sharing of advanced clinical knowledge.
Participate in audits, reviews, and data collection as required to support DES and QOF delivery.
Keep up to date with national and local policies, guidelines, and clinical best practice.
Maintain professional registration and comply with relevant codes of conduct (NMC, HCPC, or GMC).

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Registered healthcare professional (NMC/HCPC/GMC)
- MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent experience which MUST include either:
- 1. Graduated from a Centre for Advancing Practice accredited MSc advanced practice programme or completed the Centre’s ePortfolio (Supported) Route; both pathways enable eligibility for an Advanced digital badge issued by the Centre for Advancing Practice, demonstrating recognised educational and experiential preparation in advanced practice; or
- 2. Enrolled as a trainee on a Centre for Advancing Practice accredited MSc advanced practice programme linked with subsequent guaranteed progression onto a reimbursable advanced practitioner nurse role on completion of training; or
- 3. Enrolled on and progressed past the initial Learning Needs Analysis (LNA) stage of the Centre for Advancing Practice ePortfolio (supported) Route, linked with subsequent guaranteed progression onto a reimbursable advanced practitioner nurse role on completion of the ePortfolio process.
- Experience in Chronic Disease Management
- Demonstrated competence across the four pillars of advanced practice
- Knowledge of EMIS/SystmOne clinical systems
- Experience contributing to QOF, DES, or audit activity
