Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
The hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 1:30pm one week and 1:30pm-6:30pm afternoons the 2nd week.
Main duties of the job:- Receiving patients consulting with members of the Practice team.
- Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patients and checking names and addresses.
- Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary.
- Process appointment requests for same day and future appointments from patients by telephone and in person following practice procedures.
- Book appointments and recall ensuring sufficient information is recorded.
We are a smallish practice with 5000+ patients working inside the Orford Jubilee Hub. We offer an NHS pension.
Job responsibilities:- Make appointments following practice procedures and monitor flow of patients into consulting and treatment rooms.
- Ensure that patients without appointments but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
- Deal with home visit requests by booking them in the home visiting slot.
- Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors.
- Ensure that problems and queries regarding repeat prescribing are brought to the attention of the appropriate doctor and that follow-up action is taken to resolve such matters.
- Secure premises at the end of the day, ensure the building is totally secured, lights off and alarm activated.
The job is Monday - Friday 8-1:30pm one week then the 2nd week is Monday to Friday 1pm - 6:30pm alternating weekly.
Person Specification:Experience: Experience is not essential but can be beneficial. Experience working in a GP Practice is an advantage but not essential.
Knowledge and skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills. Basic IT Skills.
Qualifications: GCSE grades A to C in English and Maths. NVQ level 2 not essential. Working with the public is an advantage but not essential as training is provided.
