The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an ambitious and dynamic Finance Manager to join their finance team and support the Finance Director in driving strategic decision-making across the business. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional with strong leadership capabilities and a proactive, hands-on approach.
You will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, lead a team of five finance professionals, and play a key role in ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and efficient financial operations. Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of five within the finance department.
- Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
- Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed monthly.
- Work closely with the Finance Director on financial and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Oversee weekly payroll processing and client invoicing to ensure strict deadlines are achieved.
- Manage and approve weekly supplier payment runs.
- Ensure VAT, PAYE, CIS, and Corporation Tax obligations are accurately prepared and submitted on time.
- Manage all bank reconciliations across the business.
- Oversee petty cash, company credit cards, and employee expenses.
- Manage the company's invoice discounting facility.
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures.
- Support the Finance Director throughout the annual audit process.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including a fleet of company vehicles.
- Maintain hire purchase schedules and record interest payments accurately.
- Produce ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting for senior management.
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes, financial controls, and operational efficiencies.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or similar role.
- Previous experience managing and developing finance teams.
- ACCA or CIMA part-qualified as a minimum (fully qualified candidates also welcome).
- Strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Excellent understanding of month-end and year-end accounting processes.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems.
- Experience with Sage 50 Cloud would be highly advantageous.
- Degree educated (desirable).
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the business.
