Hours: 30 hours per week, weekdays only

Job type: Permanent, part-time

As Head Housekeeper, you will lead Parkside's housekeeping team and ensure excellent standards of cleanliness, infection control and comfort throughout the home. This is a hands-on role for an experienced Housekeeper, Domestic Supervisor or Cleaning Team Leader who takes pride in creating a safe and welcoming environment.

Parkside is a friendly Christian residential care home providing personal care and accommodation for adults aged over 65. The team creates a warm, supportive home-from-home environment where residents' dignity, independence and individual personalities are respected.

The Role

Reporting to the Deputy Manager, you will manage the daily housekeeping service, supervise the housekeeping team and remain actively involved in cleaning and laundry duties. You will work closely with the care, catering and maintenance teams to maintain high standards across residents' rooms, en-suites, communal areas and offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise and allocate tasks to the housekeeping team
  • Prepare rotas with the Deputy Manager
  • Maintain cleaning schedules and daily task lists
  • Check cleaning standards throughout the home
  • Organise residents' laundry, including washing, ironing and distribution
  • Lead on infection control and maintain relevant records
  • Ensure COSHH information and risk assessments are up to date
  • Complete annual infection control and COSHH audits
  • Order supplies and ensure cleaning equipment is properly maintained
  • Undertake general and deep cleaning when required
  • Liaise with maintenance staff regarding repairs and improvements
  • Respond compassionately to residents' requests and emergency buzzers
  • Record relevant resident support using the home's care management software
  • Act as a Keyworker for one or two residents when required
  • Support Parkside's Christian ethos and follow all health and safety procedures

About You

You will be caring, thorough and dependable, with the confidence to lead others and respond proactively to changing priorities. You should have:

  • Previous experience as a Head Housekeeper, Housekeeping Supervisor, Domestic Supervisor or similar
  • At least 12 months' cleaning or housekeeping experience within a care home, residential or commercial environment
  • Experience supervising staff and allocating workloads
  • Knowledge of infection control, COSHH and safe manual handling
  • Excellent attention to detail and customer service skills
  • A kind and respectful approach when working with older people
  • The physical ability to complete cleaning duties across a three-storey building
  • An NVQ or Diploma in Management, or another relevant qualification, would be desirable.
