An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Group Technology Manager to take ownership of the technology strategy and infrastructure for a newly established international business operating across the UK, Europe and North America. The business is currently undergoing a significant carve-out and technology transformation, creating a standalone global IT environment designed to support its next stage of growth.

Reporting directly to the Group CFO, you will lead a geographically distributed IT function and take responsibility for shaping the group's technology roadmap, standardising systems internationally and ensuring technology investment supports commercial growth, operational efficiency and scalability. This is not simply a "keep the lights on" IT position. We're looking for a commercially minded technology leader who can operate strategically while remaining close enough to delivery to support implementation when required.

The role

  • Define and own the group-wide IT strategy and technology roadmap
  • Help establish a new standalone IT infrastructure following a business carve-out
  • Partner with external consultants throughout the transformation and implementation programme
  • Oversee core business systems including ERP, CRM, rental/asset management and data/reporting platforms
  • Lead the group's cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, disaster recovery and business continuity strategy
  • Drive standardisation of systems, technology and vendors across multiple countries
  • Manage and develop local IT Managers and Specialists across the UK, US, Canada and Europe
  • Improve the use of data, reporting and business intelligence across the organisation
  • Identify opportunities for automation and technology-led operational improvement
  • Manage technology suppliers, software providers and managed service partners
  • Support future international expansion, new site openings and potential M&A integration
  • Manage group IT budgets and ensure strong commercial return from technology investment

What we're looking for

  • Significant experience in a senior technology leadership position such as Group IT Manager, Head of IT, Head of Technology or IT Director
  • Experience managing technology across a multi-site and ideally multi-country organisation
  • A strong track record delivering IT transformation and major systems change
  • Broad experience across ERP, CRM, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity and data/reporting
  • Experience leading geographically distributed IT teams
  • Strong vendor, consultancy and third-party management experience
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to operate at CFO and senior leadership level
  • A commercial mindset and the ability to connect technology decisions with business outcomes
  • Experience leading group-wide system implementations, integrations or standardisation programmes
  • The flexibility to travel internationally when required
  • Experience within rental, fleet, logistics, equipment or another asset-intensive business would be particularly valuable.
  • Previous involvement in business carve-outs, M&A integration or the establishment of standalone IT environments would also be highly advantageous.
