Job Description
Our well known client is looking for a LHR Gateway and Warehouse General Manager
Must have freight forwarding experience
Overall Role Purpose
Provide the physical service delivery of our airfreight gateway and station warehouse functions at LHR. Responsible for quality service delivery, resource management, education, Health & Safety, compliance, engagement and routines/disciplines within the warehouse environment
Operational Responsibilities
- Ultimate responsibility for the primary airfreight gateway and station warehousing service delivery. With a good knowledge of import and export process.
- Ability to maintain and build strong interdepartmental relationships with a strong focus on internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Site aviation security nominee and responsible for Dangerous Goods by Air, Ceiv LiBat and ADR processes, compliance and training in conjunction with UK AFR Compliance Manager.
- Compliance to GDP/MHRA standards in conjunction with Responsible Person.
- Responsible for managing resource across a complex shift pattern with ~110 unionised FTE.
- Yard and warehouse maintenance and housekeeping in conjunction with Facility Manager.
- Maintenance, compliance and training of MHE. Along with sourcing, procurement and relationship building with key suppliers.
- Responsible for driving a strong culture of Health & Safety in conjunction with National Health & Safety Manager.
- Design and production of data metrics to drive efficiencies.
- Drives continuous improvement and pushes new technologies to identify areas for continuous improvement [FirstChoice]
- Able to foster and build external industry relationships with handling agents, security providers and hauliers.
- Creates an atmosphere of engagement and communication across the team whilst driving routines, discipline and responsibility throughout the team.
Skills and experience
- A good knowledge of the freight forwarding Industry and a knowledge of operational processes
- A good knowledge of Aviation Security, Dangerous Goods by Air, ADR and GDP/MHRA requirements and processes.
- Ability to use and and understand large amounts of data and build metrics
- Experience and understanding of managing a P&L
