We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join a well-established and growing accountancy practice based in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for a practice-trained accountant looking to take ownership of a varied client portfolio while working closely with directors and supporting junior team members.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse range of clients, preparing statutory accounts, providing tax and business advice, and building strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Managing a portfolio of SME, limited company, sole trader and partnership clients
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards
- Preparing corporation tax computations and returns
- Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns
- Reviewing bookkeeping and VAT returns
- Liaising directly with clients on accounting, taxation and business matters
- Assisting clients with cloud accounting software and process improvements
- Providing management accounts and financial reporting where required
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and professional standards
- Building and maintaining strong long-term client relationships
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment
- Practice-trained accountant with a solid understanding of UK accounting and taxation requirements
- ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified
- Experience preparing statutory accounts for a varied client portfolio
- Strong knowledge of corporation tax, VAT and personal tax
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Candidates should have experience using a variety of accounting systems, including:
- Xero
- Sage
- QuickBooks
- SAP
- Microsoft Dynamics
Experience with cloud-based accounting platforms and digital bookkeeping solutions would be highly advantageous.
