Our client based in Henfield is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join their team. The role involves:
- Carrying out risk assessments, inspections and investigations.
- Delivering H&S training and communications.
- Ensuring actions are closed out to continually improve performance.
- Promoting a positive safety culture.
- Carrying out regular site inspections/safety tours.
- Completing and reviewing risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work.
- Developing clear training materials suited to factory and office colleagues.
- Supporting emergency preparedness (e.g., procedures, drills, fire and evacuation exercises) and documenting outcomes and actions.
- Maintaining H&S records and performance data (e.g., inspections, actions, training, incidents) and providing updates for management reporting.
- Working closely with Production, Maintenance and other teams to improve safe working methods and equipment safety.
- Supporting any additional reasonable H&S tasks and projects as required by the business.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety advisory role within a manufacturing/operational environment.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, COSHH assessments, inspections and incident investigations with clear written reporting.
- Experience delivering H&S inductions, toolbox talks and practical training to workforces (factory and office).
- Explicit woodworking risk management (LEV, wood dust, DSEAR).
- Fire safety governance (Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005).
- Contractor & permit-to-work systems.
- Health surveillance programme coordination.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) - essential; working towards NEBOSH Diploma - desirable.
- Knowledge of HASAWA, Management Regs, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, Fire Safety.
- Excellent communication skills: able to explain requirements in plain language and build rapport across all staff levels.
- Ability to make sound, real-time safety decisions and escalate appropriately.
- Competent in Microsoft Office; able to maintain logs, reports and basic performance dashboards.
