The post holder will be responsible for providing expert support and delivery of compliance services to support the Council and its partners in adhering to its responsibilities as a data handler and processor.
The Redaction Officer will work closely with the Data Protection team to ensure that information to be released to requestors will not place the Council at risk of data breaches, by checking that any unpermitted data is redacted from any responses.
The post will sit within the Information Management service to ensure that all relevant legislation is considered, as well as any risks to other parties named within the Subject Access Request prior to the release of any data.
Main Responsibilities and
Duties: Work in compliance with the Council’s legal duties in relation to data management and information governance, with a strong focus on redaction.
Undertake a review of information as appropriate to ensure any irrelevant or inappropriate date is redacted as required, whilst ensuring data protection legislation is not breached.
Liaising with the Senior Data Protection Officer on open cases and other agencies and professionals as required to ensure any information to be provided is obtained, checked, redacted and handled sensitively to protect the privacy of those concerned.
