  • We are recruiting for an experienced

Trading Manager to join a fast-paced commercial team within a well-established national retail and convenience business.

This is a great opportunity for a commercially focused individual with strong negotiation, category management and supplier relationship management experience to take ownership of a key category and make a measurable impact on profitability, availability and growth.

The Role

You will be responsible for developing and delivering category strategies, negotiating with suppliers and working closely with internal stakeholders to maximise commercial opportunities.

About You We are looking for someone with

  • Proven experience in trading, buying, category management or a similar commercial role .
  • At least

2–3 years' successful supplier negotiation experience .

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex commercial data.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and building effective supplier relationships.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of market and competitor dynamics.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Confident communication and influencing skills.
  • Strong Excel skills, alongside good knowledge of Word, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced retail, FMCG, grocery or similar commercial environment would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Developing and implementing category plans to improve profitability and commercial performance.
  • Leading supplier negotiations, including pricing, terms, contracts and promotional investment.
  • Managing and developing strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Planning and delivering effective promotional activity to drive sales and category growth.
  • Analysing sales, costs, market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities.
  • Managing cost price increases and assessing the impact of market and commodity changes.
  • Supporting category reviews and developing supplier and range strategies.
  • Managing seasonal buying opportunities and ensuring effective stock and clearance strategies.
  • Working collaboratively with distribution centres and stakeholders to maintain strong product availability.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, supplier performance and commercial returns.
  • Preparing reports, presentations and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
