Location: Weston-super-Mare (50% Office / 50% Field-Based)

Contract Type: Maternity Cover (with transparent targets to become permanent)

Salary: £32,000 per annum

Vehicle: Company pickup truck provided (for commuting and business use only; no private usage unless explicitly authorised)

Glendale Countryside Ltd, one of the UK’s leading national green services providers, is seeking a driven and commercially minded Contract Supervisor to join our environmental contracting business operating out of Weston-super-Mare. Operating within a strict CDM-regulated environment, this role is initially offered as maternity cover. However, it comes with a clear, mathematically transparent mandate: if you hit our financial and new-business expansion targets during the initial cover period, this role will become permanent.

Pathway to Permanent: The Conversion Targets

  • The Financial Target: You need to expand our work streams to cover the cost of your £32,000 salary. Our commercial pricing model utilizes a stacked overhead recovery and profit margin. Based on this stacked model, you will be tasked with generating £125,000 as a minimum in additional revenue to yield the £32,000 necessary to sustainably fund your position.
  • The New Business Target: Growing existing accounts is essential, but expanding our footprint is just as critical. On top of generating the expansion value, you are required to bring in 4 brand-new customers to the contract during your cover period.

This position offers a dynamic 50/50 split between office-based management and field-based operations. You will divide your time equally between managing contract administration from our Weston-super-Mare office and being out on site auditing our operative teams, ensuring top-tier safety compliance, and actively scoping out the new works required to hit your expansion targets.

50% Field-Based (Auditing & Business Development)

  • Work Stream Expansion & Sales: Walk sites, meet with prospects, and proactively identify, price, and secure the £105,000 in new revenue and 4 new customers needed to make your role permanent.
  • Safety & Quality Auditing: Conduct regular, rigorous safety and quality audits on operational teams across various sites to ensure full compliance with company standards and CDM regulations.
  • Operational Leadership: Supervise and support field teams delivering environmental contracting works, troubleshooting issues on the ground, and driving a positive safety culture.

50% Office-Based (Contract Management & Compliance)

  • Commercial Planning: Process quotes, manage contract budgets, and strategize on how to maximize our stacked 20% overhead and 20% margin to hit your financial targets.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure all site-specific documentation, including RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) and CPPs (Construction Phase Plans), are accurately prepared, maintained, and implemented.
  • Client Relations: Manage regular communication with both existing and newly acquired clients, providing progress reports and acting as a trusted representative of Glendale Countryside Ltd.

We are looking for an ambitious leader who understands commercial realities and wants to actively build and grow a contract from both the desk and the field.

Industry Experience: Proven supervisory experience within environmental contracting, landscaping, forestry, or a related sector.

Commercial Acumen: A track record of identifying business opportunities, pricing works accurately, and a proven ability to win brand-new clients while expanding existing accounts.

CDM & Safety Expertise: Strong working knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) and a background in enforcing site safety.

Auditing Skills: Demonstrable experience in carrying out formal quality and health & safety audits on active sites.

Flexibility: Comfortable managing your own diary to maintain a productive 50/50 balance between office admin, business development, and site visits.

Qualifications: Relevant Health & Safety qualifications (e.g., SSSTS, SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely, or NEBOSH) are highly desirable.

Driving Licence: A full, valid UK driving licence is essential.

Career Progression: A transparent, numbers-based pathway to convert this maternity cover into a permanent, long-term role.

Supportive Environment: The backing, resources, and training of a national industry leader.
