Qualified and Trainee Arborists North Somerset
This is an outstanding career opportunity with a market leader providing arboricultural services to private and public sector businesses. Glendale Countryside’s dedicated arboriculture teams carry out a wide range of tree‑related works for domestic, commercial & public sector clients, throughout Weston Super Mare and Somerset.
We are looking for staff to join our award‑winning arboriculture teams based in Surrey. As well as core technical arboricultural tasks, services offered in this region include woodland and estates management, vegetation management, fencing, tree surgery, forestry and environmental engineering projects so there is a wide variety of experiences and skills to be gained.
Our North Somerset depot based in Weston Super Mare is one of our flagship arboricultural bases, employing up to 6 qualified and experienced full‑time arborists and 3 full‑time trainee arborists and a dedicated 2 person management team. Working from 7:30 am - 4 pm 5 days per week. Regular paid overtime is also available outside of these hours, plus standby to cover the callout rotor.
Our arborists benefit from a vast array of tools and equipment, including:
- High‑end Timberwolf chippers
- Husqvarna and Stihl handheld equipment including battery equivalent tools
- Mobile Elevated Platforms
- 26ton Hi‑Ab timber lorries
- Remote‑controlled stump grinders
- Telehandlers
- 3.5t - 7.5t arb spec vehicles

The Qualified Person

- The candidate will need to be flexible and reliable with a thorough, proven knowledge of all aspects of tree work: ground and aerial.
- Comfortable undertaking arboricultural duties including tree pruning, dismantling & felling.
- Relevant industry qualifications such as NPTC certificates: 201(CS30), 202(CS31), 206/306(CS38), 308(CS39).
- Possession of a valid CSCS card would be an advantage.
- A full, UK driving licence is required, preferably with trailer towing up to 3,500kg.
- Must have a positive attitude towards Health & Safety regulations.
The Trainee Person
- Proactive member of staff with a passion to learn all aspects of arboriculture.
- Strong team working ethic essential.
- Comfortable learning arboricultural duties at height, including tree pruning, dismantling & felling.
- Must have a positive attitude towards Health & Safety regulations.
- The candidate will need to be flexible and reliable.
