As Glendale’s QHSE Compliance Officer, you will serve as the technical authority and champion for contract compliance, regulatory compliance, and sustainability across our national contract footprint. This role requires a unique balance of sharp technical detail, robust governance, and authentic personal gravitas.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Plan, execute, and evaluate regular on-site compliance audits across all national operational contracts.
  • Assess operational compliance against statutory legislation, Glendale policies, and client contracts/SLAs.
  • Produce precise, high-quality, evidence-backed audit reports featuring clear root-cause analyses, risk-weighted findings, and realistic corrective action plans (CAPs).
  • Monitor post-audit corrective actions to ensure timely, robust close-out by contract management teams.
  • Serve as or alternatively develop to be the central subject matter expert on relevant contract law, waste management, and QHSE risk mitigation.
  • Maintain a live risk register, tracking legislative updates and ensuring business practices adapt proactively.
  • Deliver exceptionally clear, authoritative written and verbal communications to bridge the gap between complex legal mandates and practical site operations.
  • Create and cascade environmental training modules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and toolbox talks to upskill operational staff.

Person Specification: Experience, Skills & Attributes

  • Proven background in QHSE management, auditing, or compliance assurance.
  • Hold a relevant qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Environmental Certificate).
  • ISO 14001 Lead or Internal Auditor certification.
  • Knowledge of UK H&S legislation, waste regulations, and sustainability metrics.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence and full willingness to undertake regular travel with overnight stays across the country.
