The Person
The role acts as a trusted partner to managers, providing responsive and accessible guidance while balancing pace with attention to detail and risk management. The HR Advisor will bring strong practical experience in end-to-end case management, confidently handling disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance, and organisational change matters with minimal supervision. They will build management capability through effective coaching, challenge, and upskilling, empowering leaders to confidently manage people matters, improve performance, and create positive employee experiences. The role requires resilience, sound judgement, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to prioritise competing demands while maintaining high standards of service, professionalism, and consistency.
Case Management & Advisory
- Manage a varied, high-volume caseload from end to end, including disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, and long/short-term sickness absence.
- Support and advise managers on conducting thorough, objective, and timely investigations.
- Prepare and advise line managers to ensure they are clear on how to conduct meetings, including advice on meeting preparation and how meetings should be chaired and concluded.
Management Coaching & Capability
- Coach, train, and build the confidence of line managers to handle both informal & formal ER issues independently and effectively.
- Produce and deliver management development training.
Policy & Data Insights
- Analyse data and case metrics to identify workplace trends, advising senior leadership on proactive interventions.
- Assist in the review, development, and implementation of HR policies to reflect organisational growth and evolving employment legislation.
- Accurately maintain ER case tracking and document systems (e.g., HRIS, case trackers) in line with data privacy standards.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Proven track record in an HR or Employee Relations advisory role, with direct experience managing complex casework.
- Sound, up-to-date working knowledge of UK employment law and ACAS best practices.
- CIPD Level 5 or 7 qualification (or relevant equivalent degree).
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to remain objective, calm under pressure, and handle sensitive data with confidentiality.
