Reports To: Head of QHSE / Compliance Lead

Department: Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental and Compliance

Location: Chorley Head Office, with hybrid flexibility. Ideally full-time, five days per week, with a minimum of one day per week in the office and additional office attendance as required for onboarding, audits, meetings and business needs. Open to a part-time position, i.e. 3 days a week.

Salary Range: Salary band, for full-time: £28,000 – £30,000 depending on experience. Salary band (3 days per week): £16,800 – £18,000 per annum, depending on experience (pro-rata from a full-time equivalent salary of £28,000 – £30,000).

Role: To provide administrative and co‑ordination support to the QHSE and Compliance team, helping maintain effective management systems, support audit readiness, keep compliance records current and ensure key actions are tracked and progressed. The role supports the day‑to‑day running of safety, quality, environmental and compliance activities.

  • Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to the QHSE and Compliance team.
  • Maintain and update key compliance, safety, quality and environmental records, trackers and databases.
  • Support the upkeep of the Safety Management System and Quality Management System.
  • Assist with preparation for external audits including ISO audits, Achilles, SafeContractor, SSIP and CHAS.
  • Collate audit evidence, organise audit files and track findings and close‑out actions.
  • Monitor NCRs and support logging, tracking and closing them out within internal systems.
  • Chase incident investigations, witness statements, action updates and outstanding documentation.
  • Monitor the statutory compliance system and follow up where inspections, uploads or renewals are overdue.
  • Support compliance reporting, dashboards and internal management reporting.
  • Assist with document control, including policies, procedures, forms and guidance notes.
  • Help co‑ordinate meetings, actions and departmental priorities.
  • Support SAP (safety action plan) related administration where required.
  • Maintain accurate electronic filing systems for audit evidence and compliance records.
  • Support continual improvement activity by helping track actions and recurring issues.

Essential:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Confident user of Google Workspace (or Microsoft alternative), including sheets, docs, etc.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines.
  • Confident communicating with managers and colleagues.
  • Experience working with systems, trackers or databases.
  • A proactive approach to chasing actions and keeping tasks progressing.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a QHSE, compliance or safety administration role.
  • Experience supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 systems.
  • Familiarity with audit processes such as Achilles, CHAS, SSIP or SafeContractor.
  • Experience in document control, incident administration or NCR tracking.
  • Experience with statutory compliance or compliance management platforms.
  • Basic understanding of management systems and audit evidence requirements.

This role strengthens the administrative and coordination capacity of the QHSE and Compliance function. It supports audit readiness, management system upkeep, incident and NCR follow‑up, statutory compliance monitoring and wider departmental organisation. The objective is to reduce reactive workload within the team and improve visibility and control of compliance actions.
