The Opportunity: Join our sports facilities team as a 3G Pitch Operative at the artificial turf pitch at Frimley Lodge Park. You will support on‑site operations to ensure sessions run safely, on time and professionally. This is a hands‑on, customer‑focused role with opportunities to learn pitch maintenance and wider grounds duties.
Key responsibilities:
- Meet and greet teams; check bookings on arrival and enforce a sign‑in system.
- Verify users’ footwear (correct studs) and ensure the right teams use the correct pitch areas.
- Set up and remove equipment (goals, nets, corner flags) and prepare the pitch per booking.
- Ensure sessions end on time and pitches are cleared promptly for subsequent bookings.
- Carry out routine surface checks and daily removal of litter, stones and debris; weekly de‑compaction and levelling of infill.
- Line mark pitches as required.
- Remain highly visible and identifiable in marked hi‑vis attire; actively monitor users to reduce anti‑social behaviour and littering.
- Report faults, damage or incidents to the Client Officer and liaise with visiting teams and colleagues to resolve routine issues.
- Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming facility; ensure departing teams remove all personal items and litter.
Person specification:
- Reliable, punctual and able to work evenings on your own initiative with minimal supervision.
- Physically fit and comfortable lifting/moving equipment and being active throughout a shift.
- Strong customer‑service focus with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures (checking bookings, spotting safety surface issues).
- Practical and adaptable, basic phone skills to check bookings desirable.
- Previous experience working on sports surfaces or in grounds/sports facility operations is advantageous but not essential.
