Job Details

Job Type: Part-time (9 hours per week)

Duration: Permanent

Schedule: Day shift (rotational, including weekends)

Shift: 08:00 – 17:00

Hourly Rate: £13.00

Role Overview

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant who is dedicated to making every moment count, regardless of their qualifications or experience. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will need to be adaptable and able to work efficiently in a dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the team are essential. Your role will involve maintaining the kitchen and pantry, organising supplies, and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly to meet the dietary needs of our residents, contributing to their health and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • To manage the “Cook Safe” system, adhering to the policies for: probing food, fridge and freezer temperatures, food delivery, food storage, hot holding of food, serving of food, cleaning of the kitchen, labelling of food and personal hygiene measures.
  • To assist cooks with food preparation such as sandwiches and salads.
  • To prepare vegetables.
  • To dispose of food and other waste appropriately.
  • To uphold Food Safety policies for prevention of infection and cross-contamination.
  • To keep the kitchen clean and tidy in accordance with cleaning schedules, including mopping floors and adhering to infection control and Health and Safety policies.
  • To report faults and defects in catering equipment and the kitchen fabric to the Shift Leader or Manager.
  • To assist with cleaning of yellow boxes, trolleys, extractor fan, cooker and other equipment.
  • To put away food delivered from suppliers, rotate stock, and prevent old stock from being left.
  • To attend mandatory training in Moving and Handling, Health and Safety, Elementary Food Hygiene, Infection Control and First Aid, as appropriate.
