We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant who is dedicated to making every moment count, regardless of their qualifications or experience. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will need to be adaptable and able to work efficiently in a dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the team are essential. Your role will involve maintaining the kitchen and pantry, organising supplies, and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly to meet the dietary needs of our residents, contributing to their health and wellbeing.
The Role:
- To manage the “Cook Safe” system, adhering to the policies for probing food, fridge and freezer temperatures, food delivery, food storage, hot holding of food, serving of food, cleaning of the kitchen, labelling of food and personal hygiene measures.
- To assist cooks for food preparation e.g. sandwiches/salads.
- To prepare vegetables.
- To dispose of food and other waste appropriately.
- To adhere to Food Safety policies for prevention of infection and cross contamination of food.
- To keep the kitchen clean and tidy, according to the cleaning schedules. Mop floors, adhering to infection control and Health and Safety policies.
- To report faults and defects in catering equipment and the fabric of the kitchen to the Shift Leader/Manager.
- To assist with the cleaning of yellow boxes, trolleys, extractor fan and cooker etc.
- To put away food when it has been delivered from suppliers, rotate stock, to prevent old stock being left.
- Attend mandatory training in Moving and Handling, Health and Safety, Elementary Food Hygiene, Infection Control and First Aid, as appropriate to the job.
