People tell us that meeting others living with Parkinson's is the most important support they want locally. With your help, we can provide this in a relaxed, informal way at Todmorden Parkinson's cafe.
Our Todmorden Cafe has been running for just over a year, and we are looking for a volunteer to help secure its future. The group meets monthly on the second Monday at the Health Centre. We have around 20 regular members who are passionate in their support of one another.
Responsibilities- Set up chairs and tables to allow our members to chat.
- Make an excellent cup of tea to help fuel the conversations.
- Help organise speakers on a range of topics — anything from subjects relating to Parkinson's, support services, exercise providers, creative workshops or other local interest groups.
- If you're comfortable, send emails to keep members informed.
- Keep members informed about what to expect at the next meeting and help with staying in touch.
- No need to know anything about Parkinson's.
- Willing to volunteer a few hours a month to make a real difference to this community.
The next group meetings are on 9 February and 9 March at 10am, and you are more than welcome to come along and say hello before applying.
