Parkinson Lee Executive Search has been retained by a privately owned industrial manufacturing group to appoint an ambitious and commercially driven Sales & Marketing Director.
This is a newly created senior leadership position within a highly respected engineering business with an established international footprint, recognised brands, and ambitious growth plans across the UK and Europe. Operating within specialist industrial products and engineering solutions, the organisation serves a global distributor network alongside OEM and end-user markets.
Following continued investment and acquisition-led expansion, the business is entering a pivotal phase of commercial development and is seeking a commercially astute leader to accelerate market penetration, strengthen brand presence, unlock new growth opportunities, and deliver sustainable revenue growth across domestic and international markets. As part of its growth strategy, the business will also be developing a direct-to-customer sales channel (ecommerce) alongside its established distributor network.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Board, the Sales & Marketing Director will take ownership of the group's commercial strategy and execution across domestic and international markets.
This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on commercial delivery. You will lead and develop an established sales and marketing team whilst driving new market opportunities, expanding European revenues, and building greater end-user demand across the supply chain.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering the overall sales and marketing strategy
- Driving revenue growth across UK, European and selected international markets
- Building brand awareness and market influence through digital, channel and trade marketing initiatives
- Identifying new routes to market and growth opportunities
- Leading distributor and channel development programmes
- Evaluating and implementing new commercial models, including direct-to-customer opportunities where appropriate
- Coaching, mentoring and developing a growing commercial team
- Creating a high-performance culture focused on growth, accountability and customer value
- Representing the business externally with customers, distributors, industry partners and at key trade events
The Candidate
We are interested in speaking with commercially successful leaders who combine strategic capability with strong execution skills.
You are likely to bring:
- Experience as a Sales Director, Commercial Director, Sales & Marketing Director or equivalent leadership position
- A proven track record of delivering significant new business growth within a B2B environment
- Experience of developing or scaling e-commerce, digital sales, or direct-to-customer channels within a B2B, industrial, manufacturing, or technical products environment
- Experience within industrial manufacturing, engineering, industrial distribution, technical products or related sectors
- Strong strategic marketing capability, including brand development, digital marketing and channel engagement
- Experience leading and developing successful sales teams
- Exposure to international markets, particularly Europe
- A modern approach to sales leadership, customer acquisition and commercial performance management
- The credibility and presence to operate effectively at Board level while remaining close to customers and markets
