The Quality Manager is responsible for leading the Quality function, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements, and maintaining the company’s Quality Management System (QMS). This role serves as the primary customer contact for all quality-related matters and ensures that robust processes are in place to deliver defect-free wiring harnesses and related products.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Quality Management
- Serve as the principal point of contact for all customers regarding quality issues.
- Represent the company during customer audits, visits, and quality reviews.
- Manage customer portals and scorecards for quality performance.
- Oversee non-conformities from all customers; provide leadership on complex issues.
- Manage warranty claims, validating claims and authorizing credits when applicable.
- Support customer site visits and resolve quality concerns promptly.
- Create and submit customer environmental compliance reports.
- Support PPAP, ISIR, and FAIR reports for customer submissions.
- Represent Quality for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and customer feasibility reviews.
- Manage customer concessions and Certificates of Conformity requests.
- Quality Management System (QMS) & Audits
- Maintain complete company oversight of the PHT QMS and associated documentation.
- Act as Company Representative for ISOQAR audits.
- Act as Lead Auditor for internal audits and ensure closure of findings.
- Conduct 6-monthly QMS review meetings.
- Attend management meetings to report on quality performance and risks.
- Process & Product Quality
- Lead weekly and monthly internal reject reviews for harness and battery sections.
- Oversee collection and reporting of external reject/rework data.
- Make quality decisions on supplier component acceptance.
- Act as the main company representative for IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards compliance.
- Support concession decisions and product/material verification.
- Support root cause investigations and drive continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
- Supplier Quality & Material Management
- Make quality decisions on switching supplier base for key components.
- Support supplier return processes for warranty or non-conforming parts.
- Liaise with SEZ for material changes, shortages, and delivery issues.
- Support inbound inspections, booking-in, and stock checking in case of customer quality alerts.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Review and report monthly external reject data and identify improvement opportunities.
- Monitor weekly internal reject data and provide trend analysis.
- Apply statistical quality tools to monitor and improve process capability.
- Ensure effective use of FMEA, control plans, and flowcharts for process robustness.
- Lead the Quality team and collaborate with section leaders on non-conformity management.
- Oversee training matrices every 6 months, ensuring operator competence reflects previous issues.
- Promote continuous improvement and a quality-first culture throughout the business.
- Provide support and guidance to other departments regarding quality-related matters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related).
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in Quality Management within automotive wiring harness manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA.
- Experience managing customer quality concerns, audits, and warranty claims.
- Proven leadership in internal audits, supplier quality, and customer representation.
- Familiarity with environmental compliance submissions and customer-specific requirements.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communicator with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Data-driven with strong presentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to manage complex customer issues and make balanced quality/business decisions.
KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
- Customer complaint resolution time and Customer PPM levels.
- Supplier quality performance and material conformity rates.
- Internal rejection rates, rework %, and cost of poor quality (COPQ).
- Audit compliance scores.
- Timely closure of corrective/preventive actions.
- Training compliance and operator competency scores.
